I can only think of a couple of vendors who don't offer an interpretation of RY4. RY4 is probably the single most ordered, vaped and talked about juice flavor there is. Even my first two orders, which were missteps taken with budget juice vendors, had one bottle of RY4, and it saved me until I had discovered quality juice. I like RY4. It isn't my all day vape, but it is part of my daily rotation. I am going to be more critical of an RY4 than I would be some flavors because of that.
First of all, Backwoods Brew is Don in rural New York. He is just one of the nicest guys you'll come across in the vaping scene. He is going the extra mile coming up with his own flavors and using ingredients from different sources to provide his users with something unique, and it comes through in his flavors. Whether or not you find Backwoods Brew to be one of your favorite vendors, I think just about everyone will pick up on this quality and dedication toward crafting an artisanal product.
Don's juice needs to mature before it reaches it full flavor potential. That is true of a lot of juice out there, but doubly so for Backwoods Brew. Don mixes all his juice as ordered. I found the RY4 vapeable out of the mail, but the other juices I have ordered from him have required time in The Juice Cellar to shine. The RY4 I am vaping right now is two weeks old, and it is slightly improved from day one. It's 18mg, and Don puts it right on the bottle that it is made from PG, VG, nicotine and flavorings. No mystery ingredients.
The nose of Backwoods Brew RY4 is a wonderful mix of fresh tobacco and sweet caramel. Whereas Vaperite, another vendor whose tobacco flavors really shine, has a somewhat roasted tobacco quality to his tobacco bases, the standard Backwoods tobacco base is fresh and vibrant. I call it tobacco with the veil lifted. It is a different tack than other people are taking with their tobacco, and it is incredibly good.
Backwoods Brew RY4 is predominantly tobacco and less sweet than most of the RY4's out there. The exhale is where the sweet notes sing, mixing subtle caramel with something I can't quite nail down, maybe vanilla, maybe burnt sugar. Whatever it is, it's right on the money. Throat hit is good, probably above average for an RY4. Vapor production is average to above average.
This is the sort of flavor that is really accessible. I loved this as a new vaper and I'm still vaping it. It isn't my favorite flavor, but it is in the daily rotation here at Castle Vapenstein. It was the first juice that I committed to a 30ml bottle of. In my opinion, Backwoods Brew is the best RY4 in production, and since just about everyone makes an RY4 and I have tried many of them, that is high praise.
Backwoods Brew is no secret to the people on ECF. Great flavors, handcrafted product, and a great guy behind the Backwoods brand have all helped spread the word. Here at Vapenstein we agree. Backwoods is a first rate vendor, and if you're in the market for an RY4 I think it is the go-to juice. Best RY4 in the world=Vapenstein It's Alive! Award.
