Juice Review: want2vape Smoky Clove

When I was 18 or 19 I discovered clove cigarettes. I lived in a state with 3.2% beer, so there were clubs for the 18-21 crowd. I used to be able to find the source of kretek smoke no matter how crowded or dark the bar. I loved Jakarta brand kreteks so much, one week I went out and bought a 10 pack carton of them, switching completely to kreteks. I didn't possess any knowledge of how hard clove oil was on your respiratory tract. At the end of 5 days I was coughing up blood, and there was once again a pack of Marlboro Reds in my pocket and the kreteks were reserved for club hopping. 

There are plenty of kretek juices in the vaping world, but they all miss the mark. A kretek is much more complex than simply hosing tobacco down with clove. I believe Djarum advertises their Black brand as having 27 separate components, and that complexity is nearly impossible to duplicate. Most vendors squirt some clove flavoring in with their tobacco base and call it good. These juices club you over the head with clove, and they might remind you of a kretek, but none of them really are. These are blatant, obvious juices with personalities as thin as a sheet of paper.

want2vape Smoky Clove takes a different angle. This is clove tobacco, no pretense at being a kretek. I love clove, but it's a dangerous element that easily overwhelms its companions. If this juice promises a tobacco vape where the tobacco and clove live in harmony, well, I think that sounds like a great idea.

I will be vaping this 18mg 70PG/30VG blend at 3.7v on my Bombshell with a Cisco 1.5 ohm atty.

The nose of this juice is the most pleasant, soft clove. Rich and spicy, yet it doesn't overwhelm or come across as sharp at all. This is what I want my clove incense or potpourri to smell like. Enticing and appetizing, the aroma is wonderful.

The flavor on inhale delivers first sweetness, then a medium-mild burst of clove that fills your mouth and creates the impression of volume. This transitions immediately into a fantastic throat hit. Really nice. I get the sensation that I am vaping something of substance. This juice does a great job of creating that illusion of cigarette-like satisfaction and impact. I am not going to add this to the Analog Replacement Sweepstakes, because flavored tobaccos don't belong there, but this juice performs like one.

The flavor on exhale delivers more of that perfectly balanced clove, deftly held in a base that lets you know that this is a tobacco vape. There is a lingering, smoky finish that is mild but adds incredibly to the illusion. Vapor production is above average for a PG blend, and since Donley recently changed his PG/VG ratio I can't testify whether this sample is a higher VG concentration or not. It's thinner and it vapes like a PG blend, but the vapor production is above average. 

I am coming to the end of the line with my want2vape reviews, because as stated earlier, the developing relationship between Donley and myself will make people think I'm a shill for want2vape if I continue. This is one of two juices that I wanted to review and have been vaping since before that relationship grew, so you'll just have to take my word for it that this review represents my honest, unbiased opinion. I almost didn't give this juice an It's Alive! Award for that reason, but the fact of the matter is that if this juice came from any vendor it would get the same review and win the award. 

Like all clove juice, you'll want to dedicate an atty to this one, or have some atty refresher on hand (Vape the Rockies and want2vape both sell atty refresher/flavor erasers). Clove is one of the more persistent flavors and stays in your atty for a long time, like coffee and menthol.

want2vape Smoky Clove is a huge surprise. A simple combination of tobacco, clove and smoke, but mixed and balanced with such skill and artistry that it takes this juice over the top. I kept thinking Backwoods Brew the whole time I vaped this juice in The Lab, because this juice could easily be something Don created. It has a very similar balance and feel to his creations. The clove is perfect and doesn't overwhelm the vape. The faint whisper of smoke makes the experience much more than a rudimentary one note presentation. Simply extraordinary, and it receives my highest recommendation.
