It's no secret that when I think something is really good I heap glowing praise on it and do everything I can to spread the word. Just read these reviews. I don't pull any punches when something isn't very good, but I suppose I can come across a bit fanboyish when I really like something. That's ok, enthusiasm gets peoples attention.
I ordered two 12ml bottles of Vaperite juice on the recommendation of someone at ECF, and Todd threw in two additional samples, giving me four of his tobacco flavors to acquaint myself with. I was immediately floored by how good these juices were. They were unlike any other juice I had tried. The tobacco had a very natural quality to it. Todd makes his own tobacco extracts instead of just squirting in someone else's flavoring, and it shows. Oh boy does it show. These became instant favorites at Castle Vapenstein.
I've already reviewed Todd's House Extracted Natural Tobacco. Today we're taking a look at his APV Tobacco Organic. It has a very similar tobacco base to the former, but then it takes a turn toward sublime.
Todd's description from the Vaperite website: This is a house extracted Organic Tobacco that has extracts of Agave, Prune & Vanilla added to enhance the flavor. Dark, Bold , Raisin like & semi-sweet taste. One would expect a pretty forward flavor profile from that description, but I find that APV has a much more delicate character.
The things I said about the House Extracted Natural Tobacco hold true for APV. This is an incredible tobacco base that has a lovely roasted quality to it. It absolutely tastes like tobacco, not some facsimile of tobacco. It has a wonderful, earthy nose. It's just a joy to sit and vape. The other flavors come into play mainly on exhale. The raisin quality is there, as is the vanilla, but the vanilla is oh so subtle that it kind of fades into the background, contributing to the whole without calling attention to itself. These flavors do not jump up and down on your tongue screaming to be noticed. They are subtle, delicate, and absolutely wonderful. Someone looking for a tobacco that is brash and in your face is not going to appreciate this. If you let APV speak to you on its terms, you will be rewarded with what I think is truly one of the very finest vapes in existence at this time. I am vaping this at 18mg on a 3.7v device, and like I felt with the House Extracted Natural Tobacco, I wonder if I wouldn't like it even more at 26mg. I may place my order in that strength this time, but I have a little trepidation that at 26mg it may step on the delicate nature that makes APV so special.
Like the other Vaperite juices I've tried, throat hit is adequate for what they are, but not going to win over people who want something that hits like a Lucky Strike. Vapor production is excellent, APV being a 50PG/50VG blend. The smooth, mellow character of APV makes it perfectly suited to be an all day vape, but it is so good you almost feel like it should be a special occasion vape.
Like the other juices I've tried from Vaperite, APV is spectacularly good. Todd goes the extra mile making these juices, and it pays off when your atty fires. You really feel like you are vaping an artisanal product, and there is an extraordinarily clean and natural quality to it that stands out.
Vaperite APV Tobacco Organic gets a hearty Vapenstein It's Alive! Award. It's extraordinary.
***Updated 9November2010 I may have reviewed this too soon, because today the raisin notes are deeper and the vanilla smoother and more present than before. It doesn't change my rating, I like it even better than before. Superb.
