Today's juice makes me think of a favorite haunt of mine when I was a little younger. A dark and seedy place called The Mai Tai Lounge, in the basement of a Japanese restaurant, where the lights were low, the paintings on the wall were black velvets of nude polynesians, and the drinks came in fishbowl sized globes. The menu said they had a two drink limit because of the high alcohol content, but I never had them cut me off, and I never, EVER had a good night that started out at the Mai Tai.
Back then the bartenders were grizzled old WW2 vets with flat tops and Hawaiian shirts. My favorite drink was the zombie, and I used to watch them make it so I could duplicate it at home. No luck. Half the ingredients came out of unmarked milk jugs. They guarded their secrets jealously, and while I could guess what most of the ingredients of their zombie were (151, white rum, dark rum, Malibu, pineapple juice, grenadine), I could never replicate the heavenly nectar that they whipped up behind the wall of fake bamboo.
So I did what anyone would do. I kept going back. A lot.
Vape the Rockies makes very clean burning, flavorful juice that I am a big fan of. Today it's their Pacific Punch that we'll be reviewing. I will be vaping this 24mg 30PG/70VG blend at 3.7v on my Silver Bullet with a 1.7 ohm SLB atty.
The nose of this red Kool Aid colored juice is fruity sweet and juice-like.
The flavor on inhale is slightly sweet with just a whisper of tartness. Has a taste reminiscent of many of the fruit vapes I've seen in The Lab. It's kind of generic and doesn't call to mind a specific fruit. Throat hit is actually quite good for a fruity vape.
The flavor on exhale makes me think fruit punch or fruit candy. It isn't a specific fruit, just a general fruit quality. It isn't particularly natural or juicy or sensuous. Vapor production is slighlty below average for a blend labeled so high in VG content, so I am wondering if the 70/30 is backwards. It vapes consistent with a 70PG/30VG base.
This is a forgettable juice. I hate saying that, because I am so appreciative of the work Fred has done at Vape the Rockies. I will recommend his Pineapple Toffee as a way above average fruit vape from him. That one has an excellent quality of flavor, good performance, and is a nice combination of flavors. This one is a miss for me. It isn't bad, but it just doesn't ring any bells for me. Sorry Fred.
