It's exciting to look in the mail and see a juice order has shown up. I admit, I get a little bit of that Christmas-y tingle when I see a package of juice sitting there. Such high expectations are rarely met straight out of the box. Sometimes never. However, sometimes you revisit a juice that made little to no impression initially after it has spent some time in The Juice Cellar and a revelation awaits you.
Some juice is good to go when it shows up. Others require anywhere from one to four weeks of aging, in my experience, before they shine. Some vendors you just know that you're going to have to patiently wait for their juice to come to life. Sometimes you write off a juice, only to be floored by it a couple weeks later.
I've stated that I think Backwoods Brew RY4 is the best RY4 in the business. Because of this I really don't look for RY4 anymore and have kind of lost interest. I mean, it doesn't get any better than best, so when I crave RY4 I just grab my bottle of Backwoods Brew and vape away til it's time for something else. Well, something happened last night that kind of shook up my feelings regarding the book being closed on RY4.
I was switching gears last night after I had vaped the flavor out of another juice, and I grabbed the sampler of Vaperite Organic VR4 that I received with the first order I placed with Vaperite. When I first tried this juice I appreciated it for Todd's superior tobacco base, but I kind of disregarded it because I like Backwoods Brew RY4 so much, and it just didn't do anything to really grab my attention. So when I dripped some VR4 last night I wasn't expecting a whole lot and my attention was kind of elsewhere.
The VR4 immediately commanded my attention. This juice had transformed into something truly special! I sat and vaped it for a minute, passed it to Mrs. Doctor Vapenstein and asked her what she thought. She concurred with my assessment, and I had to ask for my PV back after a few minutes.
This juice is 16mg and I vape it on my 3.7v Copper 510. The tobacco base is the same as Todd's other organic tobaccos, which is to say that it is rich, deep and has a wonderful roasted quality. His base is mellow though, and I do not mean that in a bad way. People looking for brash, in your face tobacco may be disappointed. Their loss. I don't mean this as a disrespect to any other vendor, but Vaperite tobacco bases are simply in another class in my opinion. They make you sit up and pay notice. They are subtle, but with qualities that are thought provoking and may have you engaging in monologues about the virtues of a good tobacco base. Just ask Mrs. Doctor Vapenstein. Vaperite tobacco tastes like tobacco. It's natural. There is no synthetic quality to the flavor. None. They taste like the smell of being a child and accompanying your father into a tobacconist for the first time. They are pure magic.
So VR4 has this great tobacco going on that pretty much ensures your satisfaction....and then it gets even better. Some RY4 is predominantly caramel. Some add vanilla. Some add burnt sugar. Some add something you can't put your finger on. Vaperite VR4 is tobacco and caramel to my palate, but oh, what a caramel! The caramel in Vaperite Organic VR4 is milky and buttery like good caramel should be. You smell it and your brain thinks there is some caramel heading to your stomach. You taste it on exhale and it tastes exactly like it smells. I don't think I am doing a very good job of this, but if you've ever made your own caramel, or bought caramel from a candy shop that makes their own, that is the smell and taste of the caramel in VR4. It is absolutely spectacular. Throat hit is average, but the vapor production is exceptional, which I find is the case with all Vaperite juice.
I'm a little embarrassed that every Vaperite juice I've reviewed so far has earned a Vapenstein It's Alive! Award. I assure you, these juices deserve it and I am not on the Vaperite payroll. Vaperite tobacco flavors are not going to impact everyone the same way they have me, but if you're reading this and you haven't placed a Vaperite order before, what are you waiting for? If you have a discriminating palate, enjoy good juice, and love tobacco, I don't see how you couldn't see these juices for the genius they represent. Sublime.
I don't compare one vendor's juice against another vendor in my reviews, but I feel I have to bring Backwoods Brew into the conversation since I've said that it is my favorite RY4. I am going to stick with that. Backwoods Brew RY4 is one of the great juices in the vaping world. Vaperite Organic VR4 is just as good. They're very different interpretations of RY4, and I want bottles of both of them in The Juice Cellar from now on.
So Vaperite Organic VR4 gets a resounding Huzzah! Of course, it's a Vapenstein It's Alive! Award winner.
