Rawr Vapor describes their Poison as a straight tobacco vape.
This is a tobacco with a twist and unlike almost every other juice on this site: this one does not have any fruits, creams, or nuts.
Rawr's bread and butter has been fruity menthol vapes, and frankly they do it better than anyone. I foresee one of two outcomes for this review. Either they get this right, and it's a solid tobacco vape that can stand proud with the best the community has to offer, or, they're attempting something that is outside of their forte and this vape will miss the mark entirely.
Making a tobacco vape is extremely problematic. I have yet to find any off the shelf flavorings that I thought were any good. Natural tobacco extracts are one way to skin a cat, but to make a good one requires more science than most vendors are capable of applying. Even then, problems persist with solid particle content and these juices tend to be atty killers. A really smart flavoring chemist could come up with several of the key performance elements that recreate the physical satisfaction we seek in tobacco, but so far only one vendor I can think of has done a good job with this approach. Next time you vape a tobacco juice that you enjoy, take a moment to appreciate how hard it is to make a good one. Someone put a lot of thought, time and effort into that juice.
Rawr Vapor's Poison promises us cigarette. Let's see if today's test subject is truly poison, or if it more closely resembles a bunch of makeup wearing hair metal sissies. I will be vaping today's 18mg 70PG/30VG juice at 3.7v on my Silver Bullet with a brand new 1.7 ohm SLB atty.
The nose of this juice has the all too familiar taint of DK Tab. This juice smells like eye liner and lipstick already.
The flavor on inhale is happily bereft of the all encompassing mystery nut, and doesn't give too much impression at all really. That isn't a bad thing. It just doesn't knock you over the head on the way in, letting your mind fill in the blanks. Throat hit is a little disappointing. I got this juice with zero menthol, and their just sadly isn't much throat hit here. It is a very mellow vape. That will be a plus for some vapers, but I like my juice to grab my Adam's apple and give it a good slap.
The flavor on exhale is where the DK Tab mystery nut is evident. Thankfully here it is presented in a very tactful way. It is identifiable and there is some sweetness here as well, but there is no trace of any sickly or off-putting taste. This is probably the single best execution of this type of juice that I've ever vaped. The flavor is relaxed and not in your face. Vapor production is average for a PG blend.
At the end of the day Rawr Vapor Poison is mystery nut with throat hit, as you've heard me say so many times before. The problem with this one is that there is little to no throat hit. That would be a deal breaking negative, but Mike has done such a good job presenting this juice's flavor profile that it pretty much redeems it. There is no hint of tobacco or anything tobacco-like here, but if you favor pseudo-tobacco to the real thing, this juice is a very good example, with flavor that is superior to the rest of the pack. Just be warned it doesn't really have any kick to it.
