In retrospect I may have been a little hard on Vermillion River's Kentucky Maplewood. It's just that there have been many juices that my initial enthusiasm disappeared very shortly after review. I thought that Kentucky Maplewood fit into that category, but then I reacquired my taste for it and vaped my bottle dry in no time.
That juice is a very good example of the sweet tobacco vape. There's no real sense of tobacco there, but the flavor is very good, the juice performs well and it gives a satisfying vape. It's right up there with Backwoods Brew tobaccos, Nite Lite's Bounty Hunter, and not too terribly far from the high water mark set by Vapor Station tobaccos. In hindsight it maybe should have been an It's Alive! juice, but at the time it struck me as one of those juices that wore out its welcome quickly.
So I placed another order and I have a few more Vermillion River juices to review. We continue our tour of Minnesota's own juice vendor with Vermillion River Butter Rum. The first order I placed I didn't realize that Vermillion River let you select your own free sample, so I didn't. They chose this one for me. Fortunately it''s a flavor I'm inclined to like.
I will be vaping this 20mg juice at 3.7v on my Silver Bullet with a 1.5 ohm Joye 306 atty. I have used SLB 510 attys for a long time, and getting back to using Joyes I can safely say that I prefer the Joye 306. The PG/VG ratio is listed as being 60PG/40VG to 70PG/30VG on all VR juices, but they don't specify per juice. I just want to add that I love that Vermillion River offers the 20mg nic level. That is my nic level of preference and what I make all my DIY at, but hardly any vendors offer it.
The nose of this juice is perfect. This isn't a butter rum lifesaver candy, this is buttered rum, and the olfactory cues are as good as you could hope for. 10 out of 10 on replicating the aroma of the target.
The flavor on inhale reminds me more of a butter rum lifesaver. Sweet, buttery, rich with the suggestion of alcohol making an impression lastly. When you French inhale this vape the rum is very evident though. Very good. Throat hit is great for a sweet vape, but not on par with an average tobacco vape.
The flavor on exhale is back to giving the impression of buttered rum. Vapor production seems a little below average for a PG blend.
This juice is close to the high standard set by Prime Vaping's Boston Cream Pie for a dessert vape. It doesn't quite fire on as many cylinders, thus no It's Alive! Award. It lacks the throat hit and sensation of lung satisfaction that would send it over the top. However, don't take that for a condemnation. This is a very well executed juice, with flavor that is both pleasing and true to the target. If they keep this trend going I will have to add Vermillion River to the short list of vendors that can do no wrong. I am becoming impressed with this vendor, and I can give this juice a solid recommendation. Very good, and it makes me want to go place a third Vermillion River order.
