After vaping Halo for over a year I have some pretty solid impressions of their juice. There hasn't been one that put me off, and there are several that are crucial vapes for me. Freedom, Smooth 8, Tribeca and Prime 15 are all solid vapes, but not juices that made my regular rotation. Torque 56, Bella Valente and Captain Jack are all pretty much indispensable, and have proven to be the only three juices in all of vaping that I can't live without.
These juices are probably a love it or hate it affair. There is a chemical-ness to them that I can see putting some people off. It doesn't come across as a bad quality to me. No one has perfected killer throat hit like Halo. These juices also burn very clean and are extremely atty and carto friendly. That's a huge plus. Lastly, Halo juice does a better job than any at hitting that mysterious benchmark I call core satisfaction; the sensation you got when you lit up a nail after going a while without one. It's a combination of throat hit and a hard to describe sensation in your upper chest. It's something we never thought about when we smoked, but it was a big part of that feeling of relief that we relished about smoking. It's kind of hard to put into words. All I know is that when I vape this stuff, more than any other juice I get a piece of the satisfaction I am looking for as a former cigarette smoker. This stuff makes me feel like I'm vaping something. I also like it that none of these taste like DK-Tab or make me feel like I am going into diabetic shock. They're sweet, but much less so than the status quo for tobacco vapes.
I had been out of Bella for about a month and I took advantage of the Thanksgiving sale to restock. I didn't realize Halo had added a flavor, Midnight Apple, so I added a 5ml bottle to the cart. They describe it as spiced Granny Smith over their tobacco base. I have to hurry up and review it, because I've been forcing myself to stay away from this small bottle before I emptied it without getting a review out. This is definitely a big bottle juice for me and I'll have to get another order in soon.
I will be vaping this 18mg juice at 3.7v on my Silver Bullet with a brand new Joye 306 1.5 ohm atty. Halo doesn't list their ratios, but they all seem to fall between 73-80% PG.
The nose of this juice suggests smoky apple. It's got a nice, crisp apple to it. Not artificial, not quite genuine. Like a very, very good apple candle.
The flavor on inhale is very slightly tart, crisp apple and is a little sweet. Not huge flavor on the inhale, because it immediately transitions into world class throat hit and core satisfaction which shakes your train of thought. This juice vapes just like Torque 56 without tasting like it. Easily a top ten juice in terms of throat hit.
The flavor on exhale is where the apple is clear and defined. The best description I can give you is that this juice tastes EXACTLY like vaping a combination of the apple soda you buy at a Mexican grocery store and Torque 56. The apple here is clear and bright. It really has that same level of crisp, sweet, tart and effervescent that the Mexican Manzanita Verde soda has. Outstanding flavor. Not too cloying or sweet, refreshing, and coupled with the performance of this juice it makes for a vape you don't want to put down. Any Torque 56 flavor cues are way, way in the background, but it performs just like Torque 56. Vapor production is very slightly below average for a PG blend, but none of the Halo juices are fog machine fuel.
From the very first vape I knew that Halo had created another iconic tobacco vape with Midnight Apple. This stuff is lick your fingers good, and the satisfaction it provides places it in the very top tier of juice for the hard to satisfy vaper. Juices like this are what keep me going on those days when vaping isn't quite as satisfying as I'd like it to be, and on a good vaping day this stuff is just plain fantastic.
More effusive praise for Halo. I swear I am not related to John Blazio :) I just think they make a really nice product. Pharmaceutical grade base liquids, huge throat hit and core satisfaction and unique top quality flavors. It's pretty much the roadmap all of us trying to make the best eliquid possible use. Credit where credit is due. This is a phenomenal juice. Remember that Halo started 2011 with a small handful of quality eliquids. They've about doubled that lineup during the course of the year, and the new additions are just as good as the original group. That is how you build the best lineup of juice in all of vaping, and I hope they keep following that practice in the future. Midnight Apple is easily one of Halo's best three eliquids, and I would place it in my personal top ten. I can't give a much heartier recommendation than that. Well done.
