You can't keep a jar of Nutella around here at the Castle. I'm pretty sure The Creature comes down in the middle of the night and eats it directly from the jar.
If you want to piss Mrs. Doctor Vapenstein off during the holidays, eat all her Ferrero Rocher. Good luck with that one. I have to live here, I'm not going near them.
Hazelnut must trigger some endorphin release or something. It's a very comforting flavor that also is delicate and never really overpowers anything it's mated with. It's an excellent, complimentary flavor. Today's vape, Hazelnut Cream from Highbrow Vapor, is simply Hazelnut paired with sweet cream, which sounds like it should be a very enjoyable vape.
Let's get to The Lab, where I will be vaping today's 80PG/20VG 18mg test subject at 3.7v on my Silver Bullet with a 1.5 ohm Joye 306.
The nose of this juice is sweet and has a subtle hazelnut note to it.
The flavor on inhale has a faint hazelnut and doesn't have a very strong presentation. There is nothing amiss with that, as there are many, many juices that reserve the presentation for exhale. There is hazelnut present on inhale, but it's very soft. The throat hit of this juice is much better than I would have expected and I will say it's above average, on par with an average tobacco vape in terms of throat hit. No tobacco here, just using that as a comparison.
The flavor on exhale has a little more of that hazelnut. It's missing something. There is a richness I associate with hazelnut that isn't here. I don't get a sense of cream, just an added sweetness. This juice doesn't have a big, full flavored presentation of hazelnut and is more suited to vapers looking for a mild juice that doesn't tax the senses. Vapor production is solid for an 80% PG blend, average for a PG blend.
Highbrow is going to think I have it in for them. I don't. I had a very similar experience with Joogler. I was unenthused about the first several juices Joogler sent me, but instead of getting pissy about the criticism they were good sports and took it on the chin and came back for more. That second round of Joogler juice contained a couple juices I really thought were good.
So Highbrow can read this and be unhappy with what I've written here, or they can take this for what it's worth; one person's honest opinion that is meant to inform my readers and help the vendors who participate. I interpreted Highbrow sending me their juice as them wanting me to provide my honest opinion, which is what I've given them.
There is nothing particularly wrong with today's juice, but it's just very average, in an industry where the standard for average is pretty low. You've tasted this before. It has that off the shelf flavor profile that suggests it was made using FA, TPA or one of the other commonly available flavorings. Any vaper could buy the ingredients and make it themselves for pennies on the dollar. We should expect more from our vendors, who should be adding value by creating juice that is unique and is something that consumers want to go back for. My problem with this juice is that you could take the label off the bottle and substitute the label from one of a hundred other vendors that are making product exactly like this and no one would know the difference.
It's not bad, it's not good. I've reviewed better hazelnut juice.
