It's been very nearly three years since you last read a juice review here. I hope the time has been good to you. It certainly has been for vaping. The advances in regulated vaping, rebuildable atomizers, tanks, subohm, all of this has provided vapers of all experience levels and needs a means to tailor a perfect vape for themselves.
After four plus years of vaping 3.7v on Joye 306LR attys before I updated to modern hardware, all I can say is that vaping is far more satisfying for me today than it ever has been, and I am feeling a lot of the excitement that I felt when this site first launched on Halloween 2010. It's good to have you here reading this, and it's good to connect with people in the vaping community again. It's good to be back.
To celebrate how happy I am about reconnecting with you, I am kicking off the Return of Vapenstein with an It's Alive! winner. Today's juice is Smoked Custard Plus by Nick's Blissful Brews. Coming back to public vaping after a three year absence I had to take a crash course in hardware. I wasn't going to seriously look at anyone's product until I felt good about what I was using, and felt that I was getting a vape that would do these juices justice. I had to go through a few combinations, and I am vaping on a setup today that gives me flat out the best vape I have ever had, so here we go:
I will be vaping this 6mg 70vg/30pg juice on my iPV Mini at 27.5 watts using a Kanger Subtank Mini with a .5 ohm coil wicked with rayon in the rba module. 6mg is a little stiff on this combo, and I will be ordering all my juice in 3mg from now on. Seriously, I can feel this, and as a cigar smoker I haven't felt nic from vaping in years. But who knew? I was vaping 18-24mg until only a couple weeks ago.
The juice is pretty thick by my standards, but that's coming from a guy who vaped 75-80% PG for the last four years. The Subtank Mini can keep up at this ratio, but I do get the feeling that it might struggle with thicker juice. I'm going to keep ordering at 70vg on future juice orders to play it safe.
The nose of this juice is a sweet and slightly egg-y custard. It's spot on.
The flavor on inhale showcase the sweetness I smelled, and almost has a buttery quality to it. It's very nice, and not cloying, just appealing. Throat/lung hit is super satisfying. As in, this is flat out the most itch scratching, gets the job done, I'm ready to roll over and fall asleep now performance I've experienced in eliquid. Granted, the hardware is a big part of that, and in that regard, despite that I've been around forever in vaping terms, I'm a noob at the moment compared to most of you reading this. It's damn good.
The flavor on exhale reveals an egg-y custard body and the Smoked part of the product name. I do not necessarily get tobacco or smoke from that component, but whatever it is it adds body to the vape and makes this much more than just a dessert vape. It has substance. Tobacco juice rarely has anything to do with tobacco outside of NETs, and that's ok. Faux tobacco is something I've always appreciated in a vape, the really good ones anyway, and Smoked Custard Plus is absolutely one of the finest pseudo tobacco vapes I've ever had. The sweetness takes over the surprisingly long finish and lingers on the palate.
This juice is so flavorful and satisfying. I'm blown away. I know a lot of that is my hardware delivering a vastly better vaping experience than I've ever enjoyed, but I don't think we can take credit away from Nick. This is a deftly crafted juice that qualifies as both a dessert vape and a tobacco vape, and my humble opinion is that it is spectacular. Super satisfying, super flavor, it's just super, and it sets the bar for every juice that follows it into The Lab.
oh and I really missed you! It's good to be back!
