So far Vapors Etc has been a winner for reasonably priced, good quality juice. Today I am sitting down with their signature juice, Vapors Etc Captain Jack.
Judging from the name and the image they use for Captain Jack I can only assume they are modelling the flavor off the well known and inexpensive Captain Black pipe tobacco. Captain Black has been around for years, and everyone is probably familiar with their label. Odd, because Captain Black has something of a bad reputation amongst pipe smokers as being flat and not anything special. It is, however, probably just like the pipe tobacco your grandpa used, and it is widely available.
Captain Black is mild Cavendish tobacco. Cavendish refers to the process of curing and cutting the leaf to bring out its natural sweetness. Cavendish is generally a blend of Virginia and Burley leaf. A juice with this model should produce a mild but slightly richer flavor profile than vapers are used to, as most tobacco juices are modelled after either Virginia or Turkish leaf that is air or flue cured.
I am vaping this 18mg PG blend on my 3.7v Copper 510.
The nose of this juice actually does have a very mild pipe tobacco quality to it. Tobacco juices generally aren't the most aromatic, and this one has one of the best if not the best aromas I've encountered.
I got this juice with extra flavor since they offer it. I kind of couldn't help myself. I wouldn't reorder it that way, and on the positive side the flavor has toned down a lot since I got it a few weeks ago. Read why I don't like the extra flavor option here.
On inhale this juices delivers rich tobacco with average throat hit. On exhale I get more of the same. No berries. No nuts. No chocolate donuts here. Just sweet cured tobacco. The tobacco does not taste like insert-brand-here-analog-replacement-juice, it is more reminiscent of pipe tobacco. This makes it a little unique in the vaping world. I haven't tried any of the French Pipe variants, yet, and so far I haven't vaped anything that is quite like Captain Jack. There is also a sweetness to it that is unidentifiable. That is nice, because it would be so easy to just add honey or vanilla and call it a day. The sweetness in this juice is more like the natural sugars produced by fermented tobacco, and mild. So for that part, this juice is right on target. Vapor production of this juice is average for a PG blend.
Vapors Etc Captain Jack is not my new favorite juice. It's not a Vapenstein It's Alive! Award winner. I am not running to the vaping forums to exclaim how Captain Jack changed my life. However, it is a unique tobacco vape that is very good. It is not like any other juice that resides in The Juice Cellar. It is a tobacco vape that is mild and flavorful at the same time, and while it doesn't sizzle like some, you definitely know you're vaping a tobacco juice. Vapors Etc should be applauded for originality. This little juice vendor is not one that comes up much if ever in the forums, but every juice I've reviewed from them has made a positive impression. Not a daily vape for me, but I am definitely keeping a bottle of this on hand because there is nothing like it. It's good juice worthy of reordering, and that's my endorsement.
