I smoked Marlboro Reds almost exclusively from 1978 to 1998. I detoured to Camel unfiltereds for a couple of years, and I've smoked some Winstons in my day. I spent my last decade as a smoker smoking Pall Mall Lights, but mostly it was good old fashioned Marlboro Box.
Mrs. Doctor Vapenstein loves the analog vapes. She wants something that performs and tastes like a cigarette. Me, I'm more about the performance, and I have grown to love a fresher, unburned tobacco taste. I am always accepting applications to the Analog Replacement Sweepstakes, and today's entrant is Intellicig-USA's RIZe Reds Blend. Previously I reviewed RIZe Kamel from them, and it proved itself a worthy entry to the sweepstakes with good impact and above average analog taste.
So it's time to enter The Lab where we will snip the ball off this 10ml needle tip bottle of Reds Blend and see if it says Marlboro or "Meh"boro. I will be vaping this 24mg PG coffin nail on my Bombshell at 3.7v.
The nose of this juice has a dry, unburned cigarette tobacco smell mixed with something I can't quite put my finger on. It softens the body without having a distinct profile of its own. It could be malt, because it has that soft, somewhat neutral warmth to it, but I could be missing the mark altogether.
The flavor on inhale is pretty nondescript, saving itself for exhale like so many juices do. It hits hot and dry, which are characteristics not unwanted for an analog replacement. Like the other RIZe juices I've reviewed, Reds Blend has great throat hit and more than satisfies in that department.
On exhale I am still feeling the great throat hit and then I get much more of that mystery flavor. This juice has that analog quality to the exhale without directly tasting like cigarette smoke. It gives your senses the impression of exhaling after a draw on a cigarette. Nothing wrong with that, Halo Torque 56 is the same way, as is ECOpure Rich, and they are two of my three favorite analog replacements, both Vapenstein It's Alive! Award recipients. I have been vaping two malt based flavors the last few days, so I am not going out on a limb and proclaiming the mystery flavor malt, but it's in the same flavor family. Unlike its cousin Kamel, I do not get any ash tray from this juice.
Do I think Marlboro when I vape this? No, but I would identify it as analog cigarette tobacco in a blind test. Vapor production is very good, striking me as being better than average for a PG blend.
Overall the sum of Reds Blend's parts add up to a very good analog-like vape. It isn't my new favorite analog juice, but it is an above average representation of the genre. Someone predisposed to this sort of vape could do a lot worse than this and its cousin RIZe Kamel. Both are very well executed, with no hint of the dreaded mystery peanut to mar the experience. Well done.
