I have wanted a new mod for a while, but there really wasn't anything on the horizon that felt like a device I couldn't live without. The new Precious looks like a big disappointment after watching Scott Bonner's review. The Precise is just a basic 3.7/6v mod without any bells and whistles. Granted, it's probably the world's coolest mod in that category, but the price is kind of hard to swallow for what it does. None of the wooden box mods get me excited. The VV stuff out now and coming soon doesn't do much for me, even though I like the idea of VV. The bottom fed mods are of no interest at all to me.
So I was kind of biding my time until the mod that gave me that tingle came along. Then I fried a switch on my trusty Bombshell, and I started to get frustrated after vaping my little 14500 Copper for a week. Superior mod for the travel case, not what I want to vape on all day when I'm at home.
I agonized over a couple tried and true devices for about a week, then finally broke down and ordered a Silver Bullet from AltSmoke.
There isn't really any way to describe how nice the textured silver vein finish feels in your hand. I will give Hot Vapes props on the satin finish of The Bombshell. It's absolutely the right choice to give an aluminum tube mod a finish that doesn't drive you crazy with fingerprints.
The Silver Bullet in silver vein feels like a million bucks in your hand. I looked mine over for flaws in the finish and I don't think there are any. I don't know if this is powder coated, painted, or a combination of both finishes, but it's awesome. It has a nice tactile finish to it, and you'll never see a fingerprint on it. Really nice finish.
I vaped on The Bombshell for so long I thought I would compare the two. They are almost the same height with the Silver bullet being very slightly taller, but the Silver Bullet is not as big in diameter. It's actually quite a bit smaller. I don't have a pair of calipers at home to measure them, so I am going to guess that the Silver Bullet is about a sixteenth of an inch smaller in diameter, and you feel that difference when you hold it. They're both nice mods, but I really like the way the Silver Bullet feels in my hand.
I am a big fan of the switch on the Silver Bullet as well. It's quite a bit larger. It's not clicky, but it bottoms out after about a sixteenth of an inch of travel. It feels solid. The switch on The Bombshell is its weak link, but I do like that it has a tactile click to it. Aside from that positive, it's too small and it just feels like it's the first thing on the mod that will fail. The button on the Silver Bullet is perfect for your thumb. It's an electronic switch. I know we all like the idea of mechanical switches as they are less likely to fail suddenly (on paper), but I did not like the mechanical switch on the KVS Triple V. At all. So far, the SB wins my vote for favorite switch on a tube mod.
Performance review soon, but my initial impressions are extremely positive.
